January 20 - 27, 2025
Pruning Festival
We imagined the Algı campus as a space where a harmonious, supportive and developmental relationship with nature and each other is possible. We wanted Yunus Emre's verses to guide us here:
I'm not here for the davi,
My work is for sevi.
A friend's home is in the heart,
I came to make hearts.
Campus Life
We enter our compound, which is 3 km inland from the asphalt, with a big car with 4×4 traction, especially if it has just rained and the soil is muddy. So, most probably one of us will pick you up from the beginning of the dirt road with such a car. In some cases, the road may be in conditions where even this car cannot go. So it would be great if you can be prepared to walk in the magnificent nature with your rubber boots and light backpack.
We opened our 2-storey main building on October 14-19, 2024 with the ’Be Yourself, Shine with Your Light‘ camp and then with the ’Harvest Festival‘ in December. We heat the building, which has a stone living room, a concrete second floor and a wooden floor covering, with stoves on both floors and wood collected from the farm land.
We have comforts such as dishwashers and washing machines in our compound, where we get domestic water from our own well and electricity from solar energy. Our only limitation is that we cannot use both at the same time. We obtain hot water by heating it in the stove. It is possible to take a bath with this water.
We have 3 toilets on our campus, one of which is outside. Two of the toilets work with an environmentally friendly system that we describe as dry toilets. The outside toilet is alaturka and flush.
Food Organization
We will shop for food and drinks. We will also prepare healthy snacks. You can easily get the food you want from the farm kitchen. You can also support us by cooking and putting the dishes in the machine.
We use our stove and oven for cooking. We also have a normal stove.
If you have a special need for grocery shopping, let us know in advance and we will prepare it. Pre-packaged foods, alcohol and meat consumption are among the things we do not prefer.
Festive Unity
- We will meet and make real heart-to-heart connections with each other.
- We will take care of ourselves, our needs and our safety by exhausting our bodies sufficiently, drinking enough water, eating good food and sleeping well.
- We will work and have fun together. We will share conversations, songs and folk songs while doing our work and resting.
- We will eat around the fire, play games, make music, use art materials.
- We will host those who come after us.
- We will pay special attention to children, animals and the elderly.
- We will collect wood, chop it or break it and carry it to the stoves and fireplaces.
Tree Care
We will care for 350 olive trees on our campus: We will learn how to prune them and apply a protective slurry to the trunk and some branches. Apart from olives, we will make jam, molasses and drying to preserve and use the quinces we have just harvested.
If we have the opportunity, we will prepare seed balls and plant them in the soil.
You may also want to contribute to the construction of the labyrinth we started in our October camp. The labyrinth is a contemplation space that has been used for centuries. We will tell you more details when we meet.
See you at our Perception campus!
