In-Service Trainings for Teachers
Teaching is one of the oldest professional professions in the world. As in all professional professions, one of the most fundamental characteristics of the teaching profession is the need to have systematic knowledge. Teachers, therefore, have both theoretical and experiential knowledge and they need to maintain these competencies in an uninterrupted manner.
Maintaining professional knowledge is not only a requirement of professionalism, but also an ethical and legal obligation, which is why teachers are required to attend in-service trainings every year.
In-Service Trainings
Unfortunately, the education and training system in our country is based on “learning by thinking”. However, both children and adults learn at a much higher rate by “doing” and “living”.
There is great benefit in structuring teachers“ in-service training according to the ”learning by doing“ and ”learning by living" model, both to enrich their professional knowledge and to create role models. Observations show that learning by doing and experiencing contributes much more than other learning techniques to teachers' making new connections between their knowledge and experiences and to the enrichment of their learning.
Teachers are advised to use all areas of art, especially creative drama, as a way of learning in in-service trainings.
